Accessibility

As of 5 November 2026

We want every family to be able to order a letter from us, whether they use a screen reader, only a keyboard, strong magnification or a phone. This page says honestly how far we have got.

Result: partially conformant with WCAG 2.2 Level AA

In our own assessment, the web pages on littleelfpost.com, including the order form up to payment, meet the WCAG 2.2 success criteria at Levels A and AA. Some content outside the web pages does not meet them yet (see below), so the overall result is “partially conformant”.

We carried out this assessment ourselves. It is not a certification and not an independent audit.

How we tested

Date of assessment: 5 November 2026. We tested every page in our sitemap and every state of the order form.

  • Automated testing with axe-core (rules for WCAG 2.0, 2.1 and 2.2, Levels A and AA) on a computer (1280 pixels wide) and a phone (390 pixels wide).
  • The order form with error messages, the letter preview while it is written and when it is ready, editing the text, the voucher field, the menu and the thank-you page.
  • Manual review of every criterion tools cannot check: the full order with the keyboard only, visible focus, focus not hidden under the sticky header, status messages for screen readers, target sizes, 200 percent zoom, reflow at 320 pixels, reduced motion, text alternatives, language and page titles.
  • Screen reader output via the browser accessibility tree (Chromium). We have not yet tested with people who use a screen reader every day.

Known limitations

  • PDF files (24 Elf Notes, gift voucher, copy of the letter, terms as PDF): they have a title and a language and can be read aloud and searched, but they are not tagged, so screen readers read them without headings or structure. Ask us and we will send you the text as a plain text file.
  • Payment: the payment page is provided by our payment service Stripe. It is not part of our code and we have not tested it ourselves. If you get stuck there, write to us and we will help.
  • Emails: order confirmations contain links written out as web addresses, which screen readers read out in full.

How ordering works

You tell us about your child in a short form, read a free preview of the letter, change it or ask for a new version, then enter the address. Payment is handled by Stripe. We print the letter and send it by post. PDF parts arrive by email.
